DPTM certification: get ready for the Data Protection Trustmark

DPTM certification shows customers that an independent body has checked how you collect, use and protect personal data. The Data Protection Trustmark (DPTM) is Singapore’s certification for data protection, built on Singapore Standard SS 714. We prepare you for the audit; an independent body audits and certifies you.

Who asks for it, and what it shows them

One certificate. Many audiences read it.

  1. Regulators“If you have a breach, why should we go easier on you?”The PDPC says DPTM may count as a mitigating factor, and it can open the voluntary undertaking route instead of a full investigation.PDPC, read 12 Oct 2026

What happens without it

On 28 August 2024 the PDPC found that the Consumers’ Association of Singapore had failed to make reasonable security arrangements and to put in place the data protection policies and practices the PDPA requires.

Who it is for

Common questions

What does DPTM certified mean?

DPTM certified means an independent assessment body has audited your organisation against the Data Protection Trustmark standard and found that your data protection practices meet it. You can then show the certification to customers and in tenders.

What is the DPTM standard in Singapore?

DPTM is run by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and follows Singapore Standard SS 714. The standard covers how you govern, collect, use, protect, keep and dispose of personal data, and how you handle a data breach.

How long does DPTM certification take?

The time depends on your size, the number of systems and vendors, and what is already in place. We set dates in the proposal after a short scoping call, and the assessment body schedules its own audit. Tell us your scope in 5 minutes and you get a fixed-fee proposal within 2 working days: Scope your project

How much does DPTM certification cost?

Two parts: our preparation, for which you get a fixed-fee proposal after a short scoping call, and the assessment body’s own audit fee. Government grants may cover part of the cost. We check at your first call. Tell us your scope in 5 minutes and you get a fixed-fee proposal within 2 working days: Scope your project

Do you certify us?

No. We prepare you. An independent assessment body audits you and decides on certification, so the certificate means something.

Appointing a managing agent does not transfer the MCST's own accountability: it still needs its own DPO, policies and security arrangements covering data the agent processes.
